At St. Patrick's Catholic Primary School, the safety and wellbeing of our children, families and staff will always be our highest priority. In the event of severe weather, a decision may be made to close the school if conditions make it unsafe for pupils and staff to travel or for the school to operate safely.

Where possible, we will endeavour to make any decision regarding school closure as early as possible, aiming to do so by 7:00am, to allow families sufficient time to make alternative arrangements.

Severe weather may include:

• Snow and icy conditions affecting travel
• Extreme cold weather
• Severe storms or flooding
• High temperatures and heat-related risks

If the school is required to close, learning activities and work will be provided for children to complete at home wherever possible.

School closure announcements may also be broadcast on local radio stations, including:

• BBC Radio Shropshire - 96 FM
• Free Radio - 103.1 FM
• Signal 107

It is important that parents and carers monitor these communication channels during periods of severe weather to ensure they receive the most up-to-date information.
