Relationships, Health and Sex Education (RHSE)

At St. Patrick's Catholic Primary School, we follow "Life to the Full", a diocesan-approved Relationships, Health and Sex Education (RHSE) programme developed by Ten:Ten Resources. Rooted in Catholic teaching and values, the programme supports children in understanding their relationships, health, wellbeing and personal development in an age-appropriate and sensitive way.

Our RHSE curriculum works alongside our wider commitment to safeguarding, personal development and the promotion of Gospel values, helping children to grow in confidence, dignity and respect for themselves and others.

    Our Aims for RHSE

Through the teaching of RHSE, we aim to:

    • Educate children about how to stay safe, including through the NSPCC PANTS programme.
    • Help children recognise and understand positive, healthy and respectful relationships.
    • Teach children about the physical and emotional changes they will experience as they grow and develop.
    • Develop children's resilience, self-esteem and positive attitudes towards body image and wellbeing.
    • Encourage children to understand their unique value as individuals created and loved by God.
    • Promote respect, responsibility and kindness in all relationships.
    • Fulfil the statutory requirements for Relationships and Health Education within the primary curriculum.

    Life to the Full

The Life to the Full programme has been designed specifically for Catholic schools and is based on a holistic approach to education. It supports children in understanding:

    • Personal relationships
    • Emotional wellbeing
    • Physical health
    • Keeping safe
    • Mental wellbeing
    • Growing and changing
    • Respect for themselves and others
    • Their place within God's loving family

All learning is delivered in an age-appropriate manner and reflects the teachings of the Catholic Church.

    Information for Parents and Carers

We recognise that parents and carers are the primary educators of their children and believe that a strong partnership between home and school is essential.
