At St. Patrick's Catholic Primary School, we recognise that some children take on additional responsibilities at home by helping to care for a family member. These children are known as Young Carers.
A young carer may help to support someone who has:
The person they care for may be a parent, sibling, grandparent or another member of the household.
Being a young carer can sometimes impact a child's emotional wellbeing, friendships, attendance or learning. We are committed to ensuring that young carers receive the understanding, encouragement and support they need to thrive both at home and at school.
If your child is a young carer, please let us know. We can work closely with families and external agencies to provide additional support where needed.
